How a Retail ITSM rollout works

Start with a store incident and expand to approvals and planned work.

  1. Prepare references

Set up people, services and assets with clear owners, locations and lifecycle states.

  2. Rehearse incident response

Use a store register issue to test intake, service and asset validation, assignment, acknowledgment and updates.

  3. Add store context

Capture a register outage and trading window against the selected incident and check their intervals.

  4. Set decision ownership

Agree who approves service requests and changes, then rehearse approval and rejection cases.

  5. Review outcomes

Test approved request completion and change implementation, including a rolled-back result, then review the reports used in operations.

What the customer provides

Provide service names and owners, equipment identifiers and locations, current people and user access, store codes, local trading hours, and the team members who will make approval decisions. Choose a small pilot set of cases with known outcomes. If provider events are in scope, provide the event identity and processing expectations for that connection.

Changing it afterwards

When a service owner, store asset or approval responsibility changes, update the reference or access assignment before the next handoff. Rehearse the affected path again. A revised store opening time should be captured with its correct timezone on the relevant incident-linked trading record. Keep earlier case outcomes readable while correcting current setup.
