Correct and reconcile stock

A kitchen correction may concern the authorized request quantity, a held reservation or a posted movement. Choose the action that addresses the actual error. The published correction workflow releases held reservations when scope changes or is cancelled. Reversal posts compensation, while reconciliation checks the authorized quantity against recorded stock effects.

Step by step

  1. Identify the difference Inventory Supervisor

Inventory Supervisor reads stock requests' requested units and revision alongside stock movements and operation receipts. Use parent request, operation key and failure reason to find the affected action. Auditor can supply the evidence trail without changing stock.

    • Locate source scope and failure evidence
    • Updates Stock requests, Stock movements, Operation receipts
  2. Correct authorized scope Inventory Supervisor

Inventory Supervisor uses the published correction or cancellation action on the request. A correction changes the authorized quantity; applicable Approved work can become Cancelled. The workflow releases Held stock reservations, restoring free inventory. Preserve earlier decision evidence.

    • Correct or cancel scope and release holds
    • Updates Stock requests, Stock reservations, Review decisions
  3. Compensate a wrong movement Inventory Supervisor

Inventory Supervisor reverses the posted stock movement record through the reversal action. It posts a compensating movement and corrects stock lots' on-hand quantity while retaining the original unchanged. The reversal reference links the compensation to its source. A repeat returns the existing compensating movement.

    • Add compensation without editing the original
    • Updates Stock movements, Stock lots
  4. Run completion reconciliation Inventory Supervisor

Inventory Supervisor compares the posted movement total with the authorized request quantity through the reconciliation action. A match produces verification evidence. A mismatch produces a Failed operation receipt result and leaves the stock request unchanged. Preserve the request-derived verification key on retry.

    • Verify totals or retain a failed result
    • Updates Stock requests, Stock movements, Operation receipts
  5. Read the retained trail Auditor

Auditor checks the original request, decision, movement and later results together. Inventory Clerk uses the reconciled outcome to plan subsequent stock work. A Corrected receipt label alone cannot prove the related lot balance or quantity comparison succeeded.

    • Explain original and corrective results
    • Updates Review decisions, Stock movements, Operation receipts

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • A request cancellation is expected to erase a posted movement.
  • A clerk directly edits the original signed quantity instead of using reversal.
  • An old decision revision is reused after authorized scope changes.
  • A failed reconciliation is treated as completion because the request already says Executed.
