How the model is organised
Equipment identity
Assets anchor reservations, service work, permits and payments.
Booking and use
Equipment bookings link an asset and researcher; usage sessions and instrument readings link to that booking.
Service
Work orders link an asset and assignee; service history records completed work and its next due date.
Safety
Safety permits link assets and optionally work orders; technician certifications link people.
Charges
Usage charges link directly to equipment bookings.

Keys and references
Use the asset reference on a booking or work order to find the exact instrument. People records are distinct from Users and carry the link to an account. A usage session has its own booking reference. Part usage and work logs have a work order-named reference that points to equipment bookings; check that target when importing or reporting. Payments link to Assets rather than directly to usage charges.
Migration order
- Import Users and People, then confirm person-to-user references.
- Load Assets, spare parts and exchange rates.
- Add technician qualification and asset assignment records.
- Add equipment bookings and work orders with their asset and person links.
- Add usage sessions, instrument readings, safety permits, service history and work evidence.
- Add usage charges and Payments after reconciling the source identifiers.
