The tables behind Lab Information System (LIMS)

Keys and references
Use the patient number to distinguish people and the encounter reference to separate visits. A specimen’s accession number should be checked against the encounter before staff change its state. People links named staff to Users. Exchange rates is a read-only effective rate record; it is separate from the care work.
Migration order
- Users and People. Set up named staff and their access.
- Patients. Import patient numbers and assigned clinicians.
- Privileges and consent. Add evidence, effective dates and documents.
- Encounters. Link each visit to a patient and clinician.
- Specimens and evidence. Bring in accessions, notes and observations with encounter links.
- Follow-up and finance. Add patient tasks, encounter charges and patient payments.
