Systems to connect
- Production and inventory systems. Set up a connection where the team needs an inspection’s subject reference to identify a production operation, fixture or material in another system. Agree how quality decisions are handed back to the team controlling physical handling.
- Document repository. Connect the customer’s document source if approved attachments are maintained elsewhere. Keep the document title and version aligned with the instruction presented for acknowledgment.
- Identity source. Map the people who conduct and review work to their user accounts. Coordinate account changes so assigned work and personal acknowledgment history continue to resolve to the intended person.
How connections are governed
Agree the source owner, matching rule and permitted write direction for each connection before enabling it. Use stable record identities when relating imported evidence to an audit or inspection. A retry must preserve the intended business effect; a conflicting update should be investigated with its source evidence.
Start with a narrow pilot and rehearse both successful and rejected updates. Confirm that a failed connection does not imply a completed inspection or accepted corrective action. Human review remains with the designated role, and external system access needs its own authorization. Include these decisions in the implementation plan.
