Kaizen proposal to verification

Capture an owned improvement and separate the decision to proceed from verification of the result.

Step by step

  1. Capture the problem Inspector

Inspector records the area, problem and proposed change, selecting the responsible owner. An authorized submission creates the proposal at Proposed. Describe the observed difficulty so the reviewer can return to it after implementation.

    • Attribute a new Proposed record to its owner
    • Updates Kaizen proposals, People
  2. Approve the change Improvement Reviewer

Improvement Reviewer approves eligible work under the authority agreed during setup. Approved means the owner may proceed with the change. A rejected or cancelled command follows its reasoned branch; it should not be presented as completed improvement work.

    • Authorize Proposed to Approved
    • Updates Kaizen proposals
ApprovalA person approves before the work moves on.
  3. Carry out the work Quality Manager

Quality Manager coordinates the selected owner as the proposal moves to Implementing. The owner carries out the agreed change and prepares the evidence needed to assess whether it addresses the original problem.

    • Advance Approved to Implementing
    • Updates Kaizen proposals
  4. Verify the outcome Improvement Reviewer or Quality Manager

Improvement Reviewer checks the completed change before authorizing Verified. Quality Manager then closes the verified proposal through the permitted path. If the result is unsuccessful, retain the reason through the workflow's supported branch.

    • Authorize Verified and subsequent Closed
    • Updates Kaizen proposals
ApprovalA person approves before the work moves on.

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • Unclear ownership. A proposal assigned to the wrong person can sit at Approved while everyone assumes someone else will implement it.
  • Approval mistaken for success. Permission to change a bench layout does not establish that the new arrangement works during a shift.
  • Unexplained stopping. Exercise rejection and cancellation with reasons so the queue does not disguise stopped work as a completed improvement.
