What you can do

Start with the right organization

Organizations own accounts, opportunities and team membership. Each one has a name, code, active flag, time zone and currency. The App Administrator maintains that context so a Relationship Owner does not open an opportunity against the wrong firm or in-house department. An account is the client or counterparty that the opportunity concerns. Its name, code, contact, address and eligibility note help the owner identify the right record before engagement work begins.

The distinction matters when a team serves more than one organization. A counterparty name alone may not tell the owner which organization is authorized to work with it. Select the organization first, then the account within that scope. A Team Member ties an authenticated user to an organization and records the person’s role name and time zone. Use the membership record when assigning an opportunity or an independent review.

How the work is organized

  • Organization. The App Administrator maintains the operating entity, code, time zone and currency.
  • Counterparty. An account holds the contact and eligibility context for a prospective engagement.
  • Membership. A team member identifies who can own or review work for that organization.

What to agree during setup

Agree how organization codes are assigned and who can change them. A code should remain recognizable when names vary. Decide what the account eligibility note means in daily intake: it can hold a human assessment, but it should not be confused with an approved conflict decision. Agree who checks active flags before selecting a counterparty or team member. Reviewers need an organization context that matches the opportunity under discussion.

Time zones matter when a manager reads a decision date or an activity due date. Set the organization’s time zone and each team member’s time zone deliberately. Currency tells the team how to interpret planning values across organizations; the opportunity stores its expected value in USD, so agree how that value will be entered and discussed.

Check the handoff on an actual case

An App Administrator maintains a firm’s organization record and a counterparty account with a contact and eligibility note. A Relationship Owner opens an opportunity and selects both records. They assign the opportunity to an active Team Member in the organization. When a Sales Manager reviews a submitted conflict check, the manager can trace the opportunity back to the firm and counterparty rather than relying on a subject line. If a similarly named account exists under another organization, the account code and parent organization prevent a mistaken selection. The Auditor can later read the same context alongside the decision evidence.

What your team sees

  • Accounts directory — Check account codes, eligibility notes and organization before selection.
  • My opportunities — Confirm the assigned owner before moving an engagement forward.

Follow the work through

Start with opportunity intake, then follow the conflict decision.
