- Mixed production farms
Mixed production farms
Mixed operations may have several kinds of field work taking place across the same property. A pasture record provides the stable location, while each cycle carries its own dates, stage, tasks and recorded output. Managers can keep an earlier cycle visible when a new plan starts on the same paddock.
How Livestock Management is set up for you
Shared land context
Use the pasture code, location and current availability as the operating anchor.
Distinct cycles
Link each plan to the relevant paddock and keep its expected and actual production dates separate.
Work ownership
Assign planting, irrigation, feeding, inspection or harvest tasks to named team members.
Separate evidence
Use observations for dated readings and production records for actual output accepted by a reviewer.
Mixed operations may have several kinds of field work taking place across the same property. A pasture record provides the stable location, while each cycle carries its own dates, stage, tasks and recorded output. Managers can keep an earlier cycle visible when a new plan starts on the same paddock.
Choose one paddock with a completed cycle and one with current planned work. Enter the earlier cycle first so managers can see how a past result remains connected to its tasks. Add the current cycle with its expected date and planned tasks. Confirm that every task points to the intended cycle, not merely the intended paddock.
Have a manager approve one task and leave another in Planned. An operator then records the actual work and one observation. Compare the board and the production history to confirm that a field reading has not been counted as output. If the farm records feed consumption and a separate application, agree when each entry is used and how quantities are checked.
The operation should decide how Species and Breed text is used for its local classification, along with a consistent grade convention. Those text fields are useful only when the team applies them consistently. Start with the actual work and reporting questions before extending the catalog of terms.
