- Multi-service operations
Multi-service operations
A team that runs several services needs consistent source registration and clear local ownership. Each stream points to one service. Alerts carry their own query window, match count and triage status, while incidents and problems retain the service and people responsible for the response.
How Log Management & Analysis is set up for you
Service register
Maintain service name, owner, criticality and operating status for each area.
Stream assignment
Attach every source endpoint and retention setting to the intended service.
Response review
Look at incident priority, assignee and timing in the service context.
Change coordination
Review planned work against service risk and the current incident queue.
A team that runs several services needs consistent source registration and clear local ownership. Each stream points to one service. Alerts carry their own query window, match count and triage status, while incidents and problems retain the service and people responsible for the response.
Pilot two services with different owners and criticality. Register a representative stream for each. Capture one alert for each stream and confirm that the service link takes the operator to the intended owner. Open an incident for one alert, assign a responder and record the acknowledgment time. Leave the other in alert triage to test that the team distinguishes a signal under review from a service incident.
For a service with repeated symptoms, assign a problem owner and document the investigation. If planned work follows, enter the change's risk, scheduled interval and rollback plan. The Change Approver should see the same service that appears on the related incident and problem. After implementation, the Service Owner checks the outcome and records verified or rolled back as appropriate.
Agree a naming convention across services before expanding the stream register. Review external event identifiers and receipt outcomes when stream registration needs attention. The service model gives the team a way to compare work across operations without merging the owners of separate responses.
