Contract carriers

A logistics team using contract carriers needs to know which partner owns each load and what that partner has reported during the trip. Transport Partners carry the partner identity, contact information and eligibility note. Loads carry the actual movement, owner and promised delivery time. Carrier Milestones hold event identifiers and occurrence times against the parent load. This gives dispatch and review teams a common record for a partner update and the eventual recipient handoff.

How Logistics Tracking System is set up for you

Partner selection

Check the active Transport Partner and its eligibility note before assigning it to a new load. A named contact helps the Dispatcher resolve a missed window.

Event identity

Retain the tracking number and provider event identifier on the Carrier Milestone. A repeated event should lead back to the earlier operation receipt.

Timing review

Compare reported delay minutes with the load's actual delivery time and original promise. These measures answer different questions and should remain separate.

Proof

Record the final stop's recipient proof reference and any supporting attachment before concluding delivery.

Carrier Milestones hold event identifiers and occurrence times against the parent load. This gives dispatch and review teams a common record for a partner update and the eventual recipient handoff.

Begin with one operating Organization and a small set of active Transport Partners. Choose a load that has a collection stop, a delivery stop and a carrier-reported milestone. The Dispatcher records the load promise and stop windows, then submits the milestone with its reported occurrence time. Operations Reviewer checks a disputed event against the parent revision and linked evidence. At final delivery, the team records actual arrival, recipient proof and actual delivery time.

Use Late deliveries by partner to open the loads behind a late result. The partner's milestone may explain when a delay was reported; the load and stops establish what was delivered and when. Agree how a partner dispute is raised and who may change a load's scope after review. If carrier event data arrives from another system, configure that connection with clear event identity and reconciliation rules. The local records should remain readable even when the event source is unavailable.
