Who it's for

Multi-site manufacturing

A manufacturer with several operating locations needs to know whether two reported values mean the same thing. Production snapshots link to an organization and a production resource definition. Resources have effective dates, and metric definitions carry version, unit, grain and aggregation method. These records give the analyst context when reading a result by period and dimension rather than treating every value as interchangeable.

How Manufacturing Analytics is set up for you

Separate scope

Identify each organization and assign its source records to named owners.

Keep definitions visible

Review the effective resource and metric version before comparing units.

Check capture timing

Compare source coverage windows and freshness status across locations.

Route decisions

Give an independent reviewer the exact revision and evidence for each result.

Select one production measure and a short window from each participating location. Map the upstream fields for those locations, then review whether the unit and aggregation method match. Where they differ, keep the distinction visible in the metric definition and result dimension. Run validation and efficiency computation on one snapshot from each location. Ask the reviewer to compare source revision, run outcome and source evidence before approval.

During expansion, make the owner of each location responsible for investigating its own missing or stale capture. The operations manager can look at the overview's reviewed results by unit and status mix, then assign follow-up where a source needs correction. A comparison is useful only when both its measurement rule and capture window are understood. Use the [data model](/manufacturing-analytics/data-model) to plan stable organization and source keys.
