• Billing records. The Clinical Coordinator compares an encounter charge with the patient receipt and any invoice kept by the practice.
• Laboratory records. The Licensed Clinician uses the encounter and accession number to compare a specimen with outside processing records.
• Pharmacy records. The Licensed Clinician compares medication, lot, quantity and authorizer with any separate dispensing record.

Name the person who checks each handoff. Rehearse a single case using the same patient and encounter references, then correct a mismatch at its source. Decide what information staff can share with outside services before creating a technical connection. An outside system needs its own setup and verification.
