Systems to connect
- Appointment channels. Bring scheduled visit details into Encounters through a clinic-approved integration or operating procedure. The coordinator remains responsible for patient and clinician matching.
- Laboratory processing. Agree how accession numbers and processing updates from a lab reach Specimens. Staff should inspect a rejected sample before requesting another collection.
- Payment collection. Carry the received amount, date and reference into Payments and reconcile the receipt against the clinic’s collection record.
- Invoicing. Use the approved charge as the source for an invoice issued through the clinic’s chosen financial process, then update its status.
How connections are governed
Name an owner for each handoff and test it with a real operating example before expanding volume. Preserve patient numbers, encounter identifiers, accession numbers and payment references. Reconcile a rejected or uncertain update with the source system instead of treating a local status change as proof that the external action succeeded. Keep role access to clinical and financial records aligned with the responsibility for each handoff.
