Who it's for

Specialist subcontractors

A specialist subcontractor may work on several active sites while owning a narrow scope on each. Work packages distinguish those scopes, and each site task names the assignee, dates, priority and planned hours. The trade lead can use the board to see which work is moving and which task is waiting on another party.

How Construction PM is set up for you

Scope by site

Give each package a project reference and owner so a similar task title cannot be confused between locations.

Crew capacity

Compare each active crew member's weekly capacity with assigned estimated hours before accepting more work.

Time against work

Record a dated timesheet against the relevant project and task, then inspect the approval result with the site manager.

Returned evidence

Keep a drawing or inspection photograph with its subject so the quality inspector can record why a submittal was Returned.

A specialist subcontractor may work on several active sites while owning a narrow scope on each. Work packages distinguish those scopes, and each site task names the assignee, dates, priority and planned hours. The trade lead can use the board to see which work is moving and which task is waiting on another party.

Choose one project and one trade package with a realistic estimate and several tasks. Include a task already in progress and one waiting on an RFI. Put a trade lead in charge of assignments and give each task a named crew member. Check the package's estimated and actual hours against its tasks. The trade lead should be able to open a blocked task and find the site issue that explains it.

Have a crew member enter positive hours for one task and submit the timesheet. Submission triggers approval. The site manager checks the resulting entry, decision and receipt against the worker, site, task and work date. Rehearse zero hours too; the workflow should record failure without accepting the entry. When a drawing is returned, keep that decision visible while the crew revises the work. This provides a clear trail from site instruction to labour and review.
