What you can do
Operations overview in daily work
Operations Overview brings work package lifecycle measures, planned versus actual task hours by project, overdue task load by owner and a paginated exception queue together. That queue includes reviews, failed operations, overdue tasks and room approvals. Operation receipts store the action, expected revision, result state, time, linked effects and failure reason for guarded work.
The Operations Lead can move from the exception queue to the package, room decision or receipt that needs attention. Planned and actual task hours are compared by project, while overdue task load follows the parent package owner. A failed receipt remains an exception until the linked effects match the expected operation and any external reference is checked against its agreed source.
How the work is organized
- Read the queue. Separate overdue tasks, submitted room approvals, reviews and failed operations by the action each needs.
- Trace ownership. Open the parent package to find the project and owner behind a task exception.
- Check effects. Compare a receipt with the linked package and decisions before completing or retrying it.
What to agree during setup
Agree who investigates each kind of exception and how often the team reviews the queue. Map external references only when a connected authoritative source exists. Set a rule for retrying a failed operation: the same operation key should return the same completed effect, while a conflicting retry needs investigation. Keep the package owner accountable for overdue delivery.
Assign an Operations Lead to inspect the exception queue regularly and agree who handles each class of item. Define the authoritative source for any external reference before using it in reconciliation. A failed operation should have a clear next owner; the same operation key must not be reused with conflicting inputs. Decide when the Project Manager is called about overdue task work.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Pick a package whose room approval has been submitted and whose task is overdue. Follow both exceptions from Operations Overview to their records. Then inspect a failed receipt and compare its expected revision and effect references to the linked package and decision. Close the receipt only after the recorded effects agree.
Open a package with an overdue task and a submitted room revision. Follow each item from Operations Overview to its parent, then ask the Project Manager or Reviewer for the next action. Inspect a failed receipt by comparing its expected revision and linked effects with the package and decision. If an external reference exists, check the configured source as well. Leave the receipt needing review until the expected effects actually match.
