What you can do

Room approvals in daily work

The Designer records the room, current revision and mood board revision against a work package. The room approval can also carry an approved budget in US dollars and the date of the decision. Attachments hold files that explain the room design. The Reviewer inspects the submitted revision and records the outcome before the room approval is completed.

The room approval stays linked to its parent package and studio organization. A submitted revision is the one the Reviewer must inspect; a decision on an older mood board cannot authorize a changed design. The dated outcome and approved budget give the Project Manager a clear handoff for the studio’s purchasing process after the independent decision.

How the work is organized

  • Prepare the design. Record the room, current revision and mood board revision on the approval.
  • Keep the evidence. Attach supporting files to the parent package and choose their visibility deliberately.
  • Decide the current revision. The Reviewer checks the submitted work before approval is completed and a receipt is recorded.

What to agree during setup

Agree what counts as the room evidence set, who can submit it and who makes the independent decision. Confirm whether the client signs off through a connected communication process and how the studio records that acknowledgement. Choose how revised mood boards are labeled. The approved budget is a decision record; agree how the purchasing team will use it.

Agree what evidence a submitted room needs and who may prepare it. Name the independent Reviewer and decide how client acknowledgement reaches the studio. The Project Manager should know when an approved budget may be used for the purchasing handoff. Keep the room revision and package revision clear when several rooms share a package.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Submit a living-room concept with a mood board revision and supporting files. Have a Reviewer inspect the same revision, approve it or return a reason for rejection, and confirm that a later revision cannot silently inherit the earlier decision. Check that the completed approval remains linked to its work package.

Submit a living-room concept with its mood board revision and files. Ask the Reviewer to compare the submitted room revision with the material on the parent package. Record approval or rejection with the reason, then inspect the dated result. Change the mood board and submit a newer revision; the earlier decision must remain visible without completing the new revision. Check that a repeated completion uses the same recorded effect.
