Product teams
A product organization can use a project to coordinate the delivery effort for a release. The project carries dates, owner and budget. Work packages group the implementation effort; tasks give engineers and QA a concrete assignment. Release milestones hold dated checkpoints, while issues and risks show what may affect them. The product lead can use these delivery records in a stakeholder update.
How Product Roadmap Tool is set up for you
Release work
Create a project for the delivery cycle, then group related work in packages with owners and estimates.
Execution
Assign tasks to active team members and follow Backlog, in progress, in review, Blocked and Done on the task board.
Exceptions
Put raised defects in Issues with severity and an owner; use Risks for potential schedule or resource exposure.
Checkpoint review
Use a milestone due date and a review decision to record the result of a delivery handoff.
Start with one release delivery effort that has a named project owner and a known end date. Add the work packages already agreed by the team and a short set of tasks that lead to the next checkpoint. Give each task an assignee and due date. The Project Manager should open Task Board by Status with the team and inspect Blocked Tasks before the weekly update. This gives the group a factual picture of execution.
Create a milestone for the planned handoff and assign its owner. If a defect appears, the QA Engineer gives the Open issue severity so Issue Triage can move it to Triaged. The owner follows the fix and verification before the lead treats the checkpoint as met. Record a review decision when a person approves or returns the delivery subject. A time entry can show effort against the project and task after it passes approval.
