Material issue to production log

Protect free stock during issue posting and save completed production intervals with resolved operator identity.

Step by step

  1. Prepare the issue Production Operator

Production Operator selects the exact Draft material issue, work order, item, lot number and quantity. The material posting action must resolve the intended same-unit stock balance, including the location and lot basis agreed during setup.

    • Identify the intended draft withdrawal
    • Updates Material issues, Items, Work orders
  2. Check free stock Production Operator

Production Operator invokes the guarded action using the authenticated identity resolved through the staff record’s linked user account. Compare requested quantity with on-hand quantity minus reserved quantity on the eligible item, location and lot balance. Insufficient free stock rejects posting.

    • Reject an ineligible quantity or balance
    • Updates Inventory balances, Material issues, People
  3. Post the issue Production Operator

The material posting action changes status from Draft to Posted and decrements the resolved balance once. Production Operator checks the returned result. Retrying the same issue cannot consume stock again or alter another lot's balance.

    • Post and decrement the eligible balance once
    • Updates Material issues, Inventory balances
  4. End the interval Production Operator

Production Operator invokes the production interval action for the exact work order in Released or In progress. Require end date after start date and nonnegative good units and scrap units. Reject a repeated interval or repeated production log name.

    • Validate the interval and resolve its actor
    • Updates Production logs, Work orders, People
  5. Inspect saved evidence Production Operator or Quality Reviewer

Production Operator verifies work order and the resolved operator on the saved log. The workflow creates the initial batch identity when production begins. Quality Reviewer can then follow completed interval evidence for the later quality release decision.

    • Retain evidence for the quality handoff
    • Updates Production logs, Batches, Work orders

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • On-hand quantity is used as the free balance while reserved stock is ignored.
  • Several eligible-looking locations exist and the operator has not verified which balance the posting action will use.
  • A duplicate issue is replayed as another stock withdrawal.
  • A completed interval is submitted again under the same name or with invalid end time or output values.
