How a Public Library System rollout works

Set up a small library cycle and prove the handoffs before expanding.

  1. Set the scope

Choose the participating organization, collection item set and staff who will prepare, review and audit work.

  2. Load the records

Configure organizations, team membership and collection items, then check their references before creating loans.

  3. Rehearse circulation

Take a representative copy through request, reserve, issue and return, recording custody and condition.

  4. Rehearse review

Submit an interlibrary request, record an independent decision and inspect the matching receipt and effects.

  5. Open the operating cycle

Review due work, pending decisions and failed receipts in Operations Overview with the responsible team.

What the customer provides

Provide organization names, staff membership, item codes, eligibility notes and the practice for identifying patrons and physical copies. Agree due date policy, evidence visibility and the handover record used with another library. Name the person who can decide a submitted request and who investigates a receipt needing review.

Changing it afterwards

Change item eligibility and staff scope deliberately, checking active linked loans first. A corrected request should retain the earlier decision and source revision. Add a new custody or condition event to explain subsequent work rather than replacing the old handoff. Expand to more organizations after the first team can trace a loan from item through return and explain an exception from its linked evidence.
