Who it's for

Library networks

A library network may hold a requested item in one organization while another library serves the patron. Organization and collection item records establish ownership. The loan remains the working circulation record, and an interlibrary request names the owning library, requested copies and dates. A Collection Reviewer can decide the submitted handoff against the loan and its supporting evidence.

How Public Library System is set up for you

Item ownership

The collection item points to the organization responsible for the cataloged item.

Request preparation

The coordinator connects the interlibrary request to the parent loan and identifies the owning library.

Independent decision

The reviewer records a decision, source revision and reason before the handoff proceeds.

Custody trail

Custody events and operation receipts help staff connect the decision to the physical transfer and result.

Choose two participating organizations and a single item that can be requested across them. Agree how each library is named, how copy codes are recorded and what evidence accompanies a transfer. Prepare a submitted request for a real loan and have a different reviewer decide it. Then follow the resulting custody event and operation receipt. The transfer should remain understandable to an Auditor after the people involved have changed shifts.

Rehearse a rejected request as carefully as an approved one. A reason should let the coordinator correct the source, while the original decision remains tied to its revision. Also rehearse a receipt that still needs review. The team can then decide whether the effect happened before any further physical or recorded action is taken.
