Systems to connect
- Patron identity. Agree where patron entitlement is checked and how its identifier maps to the loan’s patron reference.
- Copy inventory. Agree how physical copy identifiers and availability are checked before reservation or issue.
- Partner libraries. Agree the channel for receiving and acknowledging interlibrary handoffs, including the owning library name and the return path.
- Evidence storage. Agree file retention and access rules for loan attachments, including internal and shared visibility.
How connections are governed
Assign an owner for each connection and rehearse uncertain outcomes. A local loan status should agree with the physical handoff and any external acknowledgment. Keep the operation key, expected revision and linked effect references with the receipt so a retry can be investigated against the original action. The reviewer should see discrepancies before the team repeats an uncertain transfer. Protect patron references and shared files according to each library’s access rules.
