Who it's for

Workstation quality

Workstation quality work often involves a measurement that needs context before anyone can judge it. An ESD check stores the workstation, check date, measured resistance and the lower and upper limits applied. It links to an inspection, so a reviewer can connect a failed reading to the inspected work and decide what scope needs containment.

How QMS for Electronics Manufacturing is set up for you

Name the station

Use one workstation convention that the inspector and reviewer both recognize. The name should identify where the reading was taken.

Keep the comparison

Record the resistance and both limits for the same event. Pass and Fail are meaningful only with the recorded measurement basis.

Send failed readings to review

An in-limits check remains Pass. An out-of-limits check is Fail and enters the reviewer's containment work.

Inspect the related work

The operational record points back to an inspection with a subject, assignee and check results. Quality Reviewer can use that context when deciding how to handle affected work.

Workstation quality work often involves a measurement that needs context before anyone can judge it. An ESD check stores the workstation, check date, measured resistance and the lower and upper limits applied. It links to an inspection, so a reviewer can connect a failed reading to the inspected work and decide what scope needs containment.

Choose one area with a stable workstation naming scheme. Agree who captures the reading, what test method supplies the value, and who maintains the operating limits. Decide what the reviewer does when a reading fails. The captured lower and upper limits should travel with the reading so the later decision can be explained even when the area's current limit has changed.

Rehearse a Pass between the limits and a Fail above the upper limit against a real inspection. The passing check should remain accessible as recorded evidence. The failing check should show the station, date, reading, range and inspection to the reviewer. Test an incomplete event as well: a reading without the workstation or one of its limits should be corrected before anyone uses it for a containment decision.

A later passing retest should have its own check record. That lets the team see both the failed event and the subsequent measurement rather than interpreting the current state as if the failure had never occurred. Start broader use once the reviewer's path from reading to inspection is clear.
