Step by step

1. Plan inspection Quality Manager

   Quality Manager records the inspection type, subject reference, schedule and Inspector assignment. The inspection begins at Planned.

   • Schedule and assign the work

2. Start assigned work Inspector

   Inspector opens the planned record and starts the work, changing its state to in progress. The subject reference should match the item physically presented for inspection.

   • Mark the inspection in progress
   • Updates Inspections

3. Record check evidence Inspector

   Inspector completes each linked requirement with a result, observation and evidence where needed. A failed check retains the information that a reviewer will use to identify the failed scope.

   • Preserve requirement, result, observation and attachment
   • Updates Inspection checks, Inspections

4. Submit for review Inspector

   Inspector sends the inspection from in progress to Review with the linked check set. Quality Reviewer checks failed scope and raises a linked nonconformance in Containment while the inspection awaits a decision.

   • Put the checks before the reviewer and contain failed scope
   • Updates Inspections, Inspection checks, Nonconformances

5. Decide the result Quality Reviewer

   Quality Reviewer reads the check evidence and approves the outcome as Accepted or Rejected. The contained case remains linked to the inspection.

   • Record Accepted or Rejected with the contained case linked
   • Updates Inspections, Inspection checks, Nonconformances
   ApprovalA person approves before the work moves on.
