Allergen changeovers

A line change after an allergen-bearing product needs a record of what changed and when cleaning occurred. Allergen verification keeps the previous allergen, next product, line, cleaning date and swab result together. Its inspection link gives the Quality Manager the wider operating context for a pending or failed result.

How Food and Beverage QMS is set up for you

Named transition

Record the specific prior allergen and next product, rather than a general changeover note.

Cleaning evidence

Capture the line and cleaning date with the operational inspection.

Pending decision

Use the pending swab list to keep unresolved results in the review queue.

Failed outcome

Review a failed swab with the source inspection and use a rejected inspection to start containment when needed.

A line change after an allergen-bearing product needs a record of what changed and when cleaning occurred. Allergen verification keeps the previous allergen, next product, line, cleaning date and swab result together. Its inspection link gives the Quality Manager the wider operating context for a pending or failed result.

Choose one line and one recurring product change for the pilot. Agree how product names and allergens are written so the same transition is easy to find later. The Quality Inspector should record the changeover against a planned inspection and submit swab evidence. Quality Manager should find the pending result, check the line and product context, and decide the result in the inspection review.

Rehearse both a passing and a failing result. On the failing path, show the line team how the quality decision is passed to them and how the linked nonconformance is opened. If production release lives in another system, define that handoff explicitly. The inspection remains the record that connects the swab to the eventual disposition.
