Inspection to disposition

Move a planned inspection through requirement checks, review and a recorded quality decision.

Step by step

  1. Plan Inspector

Inspector records the subject reference, inspection type, schedule and assigned person. The choice of Incoming, in process, Final or Service tells the reviewer where the work sits.

    • Establishes the subject, type and assignment
    • Updates Inspections, People
  2. Start Inspector

Inspector begins the planned case and records observations against the relevant requirements. The inspection becomes in progress.

    • Moves the case into active inspection
    • Updates Inspections
  3. Collect evidence Inspector

Inspector saves each linked check with its result and attachment where useful. A fabric roll or garment measurement record belongs to the same inspection.

    • Preserves requirement and product detail
    • Updates Inspection checks, Fabric inspections, Garment measurements
  4. Submit Inspector

Inspector sends the case to Review after completing required checks. A missing required check stops submission.

    • Sends complete checks for review
    • Updates Inspections, Inspection checks
  5. Decide Quality Reviewer

Quality Reviewer reads the checks and detail records, then accepts eligible passing scope or rejects failed scope.

    • Records Accepted or Rejected scope
    • Updates Inspections, Inspection checks
ApprovalA person approves before the work moves on.
  6. Contain Quality Reviewer

For rejected scope, Quality Reviewer opens a linked nonconformance, records severity and identifies who will handle containment.

    • Links a failed decision to a follow-up case
    • Updates Nonconformances, Inspections

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • A check stays Pending when the inspector attempts submission. Complete the required result and observation first.
  • Fabric or garment detail points to another inspection. Verify the operational record before moving the intended case to Review.
  • The reviewer rejects scope without a linked nonconformance. Record severity and name the owner on the linked corrective action so the failure has an accountable follow-up.
