- Who it's for
- Component manufacturers
Component manufacturers
Component teams can use inspection plans at incoming, first article, in-process and final stages. The same item can have different checks at each stage. A lot number, source reference and recorded result keep quality evidence attached to the material being reviewed.
How Quality Management System is set up for you
Incoming inspection
Start with a component item, active specification and sample plan. Record the lot size before checking the selected sample numbers.
Defect evidence
Capture measured values and cited defect codes. Use their severity to prioritize a nonconformance response.
Containment
Record which lot or serials are held and when the hold was applied and released.
Corrective work
Assign root cause and CAPA tasks when a major or critical issue needs longer investigation.
Component teams can use inspection plans at incoming, first article, in-process and final stages. The same item can have different checks at each stage. A lot number, source reference and recorded result keep quality evidence attached to the material being reviewed.
Choose one component family and one incoming inspection stage. Enter its product code, active specification and inspection plan. Add the sample plan that the quality team already uses for that lot range. Run a receipt-referenced inspection with a passing result, then one with a cited major defect. Compare the resulting nonconformance, containment and CAPA records with the team's existing decision procedure.
A production reference can be carried as a source on the inspection. Agree with the operations team how it is supplied and reconciled. The quality record should retain enough source information to locate the material even if a production system is connected later. When a corrective task is complete, Quality Manager still checks effectiveness before closing the CAPA.
