Assurance Teams
An assurance team needs to make decisions from evidence gathered by other people. The assessment sets the reviewed period and scope. Individual tests record samples, exceptions and results against controls. The reviewer decision names the assessment revision and reason, giving the team a durable answer to what was approved or returned.
How Regulatory Reporting is set up for you
Plan review
Check the assessment scope and planned tests before the tester begins work.
Evidence review
Follow a test result to the control, sample reference and related attachment.
Finding review
Require an independent retest before a failed control is treated as resolved.
An assurance team needs to make decisions from evidence gathered by other people. The assessment sets the reviewed period and scope. Individual tests record samples, exceptions and results against controls. The reviewer decision names the assessment revision and reason, giving the team a durable answer to what was approved or returned.
Choose one organization, one assessment period and a control with an owner. Ask the Control Tester to record a passing sample and a failed sample with clear evidence references. The Independent Assurance Reviewer should be able to inspect both conclusions without relying on a separate conversation. Create a finding for the failure, assign an action and record a retest by another person.
Use a review decision on the current assessment revision to document approval, rejection or return. A reason should say what the owner must do next. If the assessment scope changes, compare the new revision with the earlier decision rather than treating that decision as a blanket approval. The Operations Overview exception queue gives the team a place to investigate a failed guarded action while preserving its key and result state.
This starting cycle establishes a pattern for a larger assurance program: a defined scope, named ownership, test evidence, a decision and a closed or visible exception. The reporting team can then use the reviewed assessment as the basis for its return package.
