Multi-branch Entities

A reporting organization with several branches needs to know which unit supplied each control result. Business unit records give branches distinct names and codes under the same organization. The assessment names the unit in scope and the period being tested. Risks and controls retain their own owners, so the central assurance team can ask the right person for evidence.

How Regulatory Reporting is set up for you

Branch scope

Name the business unit on an assessment and explain the period and control boundary in its scope statement.

Local ownership

Assign risks and controls to team members who can describe how the branch operates them.

Central review

Have an independent reviewer inspect tests and findings before the reporting package is approved.

A reporting organization with several branches needs to know which unit supplied each control result. Business unit records give branches distinct names and codes under the same organization. The assessment names the unit in scope and the period being tested. Risks and controls retain their own owners, so the central assurance team can ask the right person for evidence.

Start with one organization and a small set of business units with stable codes. Choose one reporting period and one assessment for a branch. Link its risks to active controls, then record sample tests against those controls. If a test fails, create a finding and give the corrective action to a named owner. This small cycle lets the team inspect whether branch ownership and central review can be traced through the records.

Before expanding, agree how a central reporting package relates to branch assessments. Each return package points to a parent assessment, so choose the scope that makes that link intelligible to the reviewer. Keep period dates and organization consistent across the package and its parent. If the organization uses a separate calculation or filing system, define how its amount and receipt enter the return record.
