Payments and corrections
A change to a meal order must respect what the team has already prepared and served. Payments and corrections brings provider evidence beside the order revision, meal lines and review decisions. Finance Reviewer checks payment provider receipts. Operations Reviewer reviews the remaining scope before authorizing a compensating action. The original order and earlier outcome remain visible.

What you can do
Review the remaining obligation
An unexecuted draft can still change before acceptance. An accepted order or completed kitchen action needs a more careful review. Operations Reviewer reads the current revision, related meal lines, prior decisions and operation receipts. The reviewer separates unprepared scope from prepared and served portions. A cancellation affects eligible remaining work and records waste separately from service. A repeated correction returns the prior result for the same operation key.
Imagine an order whose first dish has been served and whose second dish has not been prepared. The team may cancel the remaining dish after review, but the served portion is still part of the order history. The reviewer needs to see the prior kitchen and service work before deciding the correction. If a refund is requested, Finance Reviewer verifies the provider-issued outcome before treating it as complete.
How the work is organized
- Current scope. Order and line revisions show what can still be changed.
- Independent decision. The reviewer, reason, decision time and source revision record the authorized action.
- Provider evidence. Authorization, capture, refund and void receipts keep payment outcome with the order.
What to agree during setup
Decide who may request a cancellation and who approves a correction after acceptance. Set the refund authority and the evidence required from the payment provider. Agree how staff identify the operation key so a repeated request finds the earlier result. The team should rehearse partial service before handling a live cancellation, because the served portion must remain distinct from the refundable scope.
Payment connection setup should include the provider event identity and reference used to reconcile callbacks or manual evidence. The operation should check verified evidence before declaring that money moved. An uncertain provider response belongs in the exception queue for read-first reconciliation.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Choose a partly served meal order and propose cancelling only the unprepared line. Operations Reviewer compares the current revision with the served line, records the decision and authorizes the bounded correction. Finance Reviewer checks a refund receipt linked to the same order and verifies the provider identity, amount and event type. Repeat the request using the same operation key; the team should receive the prior outcome and should see only one provider effect. Check that the original served line remains available in reports.
What your team sees
- Unverified Payment Evidence — Provider receipts awaiting Finance Reviewer’s verification.
- Served Meal Lines — Portions recorded as served that a later correction must preserve.
- Operation Exceptions — Failed or review-needed effects requiring follow-up.
Follow the work through
The correction and reconciliation process connects the reviewer decision to the actual effect. Implementation covers a rehearsal with partial service and provider evidence.
