How a Returns Processing Center rollout works

Set up item, lot and review ownership before the first return pilot.

  1. Map the warehouse

Load the organization, active storage locations, team members and stock items. Agree item tracking modes and the initial lot position.

  2. Set review ownership

Assign clerks and supervisors. Agree the return reference, disposition language and evidence needed for a partial acceptance.

  3. Rehearse a return

Draft and submit a grade, make an independent decision, release the current request scope and execute the approved stock action.

  4. Exercise exceptions

Try a stale decision, a rejected grade, an insufficient reservation and a posted movement that needs reversal.

  5. Check the evidence

Compare request quantity, movement totals, lot balance and operation receipts before widening the rollout.

What the customer provides

Provide item and location directories, starting lot quantities, a practical return sample, named clerks and supervisors, and the rules your team uses to determine accepted units. Include the external identifiers needed to connect order or credit work. Bring examples of a clean return and a disputed one so reviewers can agree how rationale and attachments should be recorded.

Changing it afterwards

Update item or location setup through its owning record. Change a request’s authorized scope through the correction action so held reservations are released as needed. Correct a posted stock effect with a linked compensating movement. Keep the original decision, movement and receipt visible for reconciliation and audit.
