Who it's for

Information commission teams

A team focused on information access may need to inspect both incoming requests and the disclosure judgments made for each referenced document. The information request records the requester, subject and statutory due date. A reviewer records Release, Redact or Withhold against the referenced material and includes an exemption citation when disclosure is restricted.

How RTI / FOIA Management is set up for you

Request queue

See received, assigned, review, responded and appealed requests in one list.

Deadline watch

Check statutory due dates alongside state before routing the next review.

Disclosure decisions

Inspect all judgments for a request, then examine restricted outcomes together.

Review history

Keep the reviewer and document reference clear enough for a later appeal.

A team focused on information access may need to inspect both incoming requests and the disclosure judgments made for each referenced document. The information request records the requester, subject and statutory due date. A reviewer records Release, Redact or Withhold against the referenced material and includes an exemption citation when disclosure is restricted.

Begin with a defined specialty request type and the office's statutory date policy. Agree how document references are written and who is responsible for the judgment. Rehearse a request with separate release and redaction outcomes. The manager should find the redaction and citation in the restricted list and the case officer should see the full set of decisions before recording a response. Connect final document delivery through the agency's established process.

For the first appeal rehearsal, choose a request with a redacted document. The manager should be able to identify its reviewer, document reference and exemption citation. The case officer should be able to see whether the request was marked Responded or Appealed and whether its statutory date has passed. Keep the decision record available for the next review.
