Verify and publish race results

Submit timing evidence, obtain an independent decision and execute the approved result through a separate authority.

Step by step

  1. Submit timing evidence Race Entrant

Race Entrant submits the authorized entry with finish duration in seconds and the timing receipt for the parent event. Registration alone cannot establish a finisher.

    • Move authorized Draft evidence to Submitted
    • Updates Race entries, Events, Operation receipts
  2. Examine the submitted scope Independent Reviewer

Independent Reviewer checks the current revision and actual timing evidence. Resolve any difference between the submitted duration and its evidence before treating the result as verified.

    • Inspect timing evidence for the submitted revision
    • Updates Race entries, Events
  3. Decide the result Independent Reviewer

Independent Reviewer approves or rejects the submitted result independently of the entrant. Approval identifies eligible scope for the later execution step and does not itself perform publication.

    • Record Approved or Rejected result scope
    • Updates Race entries, Operation receipts
ApprovalA person approves before the work moves on.
  4. Execute approved scope Results Publisher

Results Publisher uses the separate authorized execution action. Its own authority reference and operation receipt identify the publication operation for the result being executed.

    • Execute eligible Approved scope with separate authority
    • Updates Race entries, Operation receipts
  5. Inspect the outcome Results Publisher or Auditor

Results Publisher and Auditor inspect the completed entry and execution receipt. An unresolved operation needs investigation before the team treats the publication step as complete.

    • Confirm the completed execution evidence
    • Updates Race entries, Operation receipts

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • A registration time is treated as proof of a finish without timing evidence.
  • The entrant participates as their own independent reviewer.
  • An earlier approval is used after the finish duration or timing evidence has changed.
  • Publication is assumed to have happened because the result was approved.
