How a Sales Forecasting rollout works
Rehearse a full forecast cycle from period setup through manager review and final variance.
Choose the pilot cycle
Select a familiar quarter and a small reporting chain. Agree the forecast measure, submission currency and quota basis with Finance Analyst.
Prepare identities and calendar
Admin validates users and manager relationships. Sales Operations prepares the period, deadline, categories, stage mappings and quotas.
Rehearse categorization
Test rule priority and manual overrides against pilot opportunities. Confirm that category changes retain their history and that repeated evaluation preserves the intended opportunity-period record.
Submit and review
Open the period, prepare the rep call and exercise manager approval and reopening. Recompute team, regional and organization rollups and explain any leadership overlays.
Inspect changes and scenarios
Move an opportunity beyond the period and inspect the slip and delta. Review an AI recommendation with its reasons and compute a scenario against a known snapshot.
Reconcile and expand
Test the ended-quarter lock, denied rep edits and final variance evidence. Review the operating recap, then extend the cycle after its connections and decision owners have been rehearsed.
What the customer provides
Bring the reporting hierarchy, forecast calendar and target definitions. Supply sample opportunities with stage, amount, probability and close date, plus the category rules the managers intend to use. Agree what makes an override reason useful and who receives reminder and pace notifications.
Changing it afterwards
Review category-rule and quota changes with the operating owners before the next period. Rehearse their effect on existing overrides and calculated totals. Test hierarchy changes against review scope and rollup ownership. Keep historical snapshots and final calls available when revising the setup, and check the first cycle after a connection or calculation change.
