- Lot-controlled stock
Lot-controlled stock
Teams handling dated or batch-controlled material need the selected lot to stay visible throughout a stock request. The lot record gives its item, code, expiry, owner reference and release state. A reservation and movement can both point to that lot, making a later trace possible from batch to request.
How SCM with Barcode/RFID is set up for you
Release review
Inspect Pending, Released, Quarantined and Blocked lot states before selecting stock.
Expiry context
Compare the expiry date with the request's needed date and local handling policy.
Request trace
Keep the lot with the reservation and posted movement that served the request.
Correction history
Link a compensating movement to the original when a count changes the recorded quantity.
Teams handling dated or batch-controlled material need the selected lot to stay visible throughout a stock request. The lot record gives its item, code, expiry, owner reference and release state. A reservation and movement can both point to that lot, making a later trace possible from batch to request.
Start with one tracked item and a known lot. Confirm its SKU and base unit, enter its expiry date and have the reviewer examine its release state. The coordinator creates a request for a specific quantity at a storage location. After approval, the team records a reservation against that item, location and lot.
During the physical task, a scanner read can identify the tag and observed units. The coordinator checks the result against the lot selected in the request. A read of another batch should be investigated rather than silently substituted. When a signed movement is posted, its lot reference and time make the stock effect traceable.
A useful follow-up rehearsal begins with a count difference. Keep the original posted movement, attach the count record to the request, obtain a reviewer decision and link the compensating entry through the reversal reference. The team can then see both the first posting and the later correction while preserving the batch's history.
