Who it's for

Manufacturing supply teams

A manufacturing supply team often holds the same item in several storage locations, while production work claims only part of the available quantity. SCM with Cycle Counting keeps the request, physical observation, reservation and posted issue as separate records. That separation helps the team investigate a count difference without treating a planned production claim as goods that have already left the location.

How SCM with Cycle Counting is set up for you

Component identity

Stock items carry SKU, base unit and lot tracking policy, which staff check when preparing requests.

Location scope

Each movement and reservation identifies its storage location, so effects can be read against the place counted.

Claimed stock

Active reservations reduce available quantity; consumed reservations can be compared with posted physical issues.

Review evidence

A submitted count and its recount can be tied to an independent decision and attachments on the parent request.

Choose one component family and one storage location used by the team. Set up items in their base units and add lot records where required. Record a stock request with an owner and required date. Have a counter observe the physical units, then have a separate reviewer inspect the revision and approve, reject or return the result with a reason. If an adjustment is needed, inspect the signed movement under the same request and verify the operation receipt against that effect.

For an issue case, reserve a bounded quantity and confirm that Operations Overview still derives on hand from posted movements. Record the later physical issue and mark the reservation Consumed. A repeated attempt should be investigated through its operation key and existing effect reference before another movement is recorded. Decide who reviews a failed receipt and when a count session can move to Completed. Keep the stock request as the operating record for the issue.
