How a SCM with Demand Forecasting rollout works

Start with a bounded demand series and rehearse a complete review cycle.

  1. Define scope

Select one item, region, channel and planning horizon, then assign the Demand Planner and cycle owner.

  2. Prepare history

Load source sales periods and review any one-time orders or promotion effects with dated adjustments.

  3. Review a baseline

Choose the model assignment, inspect the latest run and read forecast amounts by period.

  4. Add commercial input

Prepare one promotion, review an introduction and gather named contributions.

  5. Hold the cycle

Schedule demand, supply, reconciliation and executive meetings; retain decisions and version snapshots.

  6. Review the handoff

Compare final amounts with actuals, investigate an exception and inspect a safety stock target.

What the customer provides

Provide an item list with stable SKU and units, historical demand by period, the intended region and channel mapping, the fiscal calendar and named owners. Supply promotion dates and launch assumptions for the pilot. Choose the source of lead times and service-level targets before inventory follow-up. Assign the people who will contribute to and review the cycle.

Changing it afterwards

When an item’s market scope changes, review its planning entity and history mapping before the next run. Keep prior forecast versions and decisions available when revising the current position. Rehearse a representative exception after changing model parameters, calendar settings or an external feed. Expand to more items only after the first cycle’s source totals and review trail are understood.
