- SCM with Demand Forecasting
- Who it's for
- Multi-channel product teams
Multi-channel product teams
A product sold through several channels can have one item identity and several distinct demand patterns. A retail campaign may move a different period from a wholesale customer commitment. Use a planning entity for each item, region and channel combination that needs its own forecast. The planning horizon keeps the period grain consistent while each series retains its own sales history, model assignment and forecast amounts.
How SCM with Demand Forecasting is set up for you
Channel separation
Compare retail, wholesale, direct, ecommerce and OEM series without merging their seasonal behavior.
Commercial context
Link promotion scope to its item, region, channel and dates before reviewing uplift.
Named input
Sales Rep contributes known deals or customer changes; Marketing Manager explains campaign assumptions.
Cycle decision
Demand Planning Manager reconciles contributions and carries the chosen position into S&OP.
Start with one finished item sold in two channels in the same region. Load its dated sales history, then check that each planning entity has the correct horizon and assigned planner. Compare model runs and baseline forecasts by period. Add a promotion to one channel and ask Marketing Manager to show its expected uplift and confidence. Sales Rep can then submit a separate customer change for the other channel. Demand Planning Manager reviews both contributions and checks that the final plan does not count the same demand twice.
At the next cycle, compare actual quantity with the prior final amount for each channel. If an exception appears, assign it to a planner and review its source periods before changing the model. That sequence creates a review habit the team can repeat as more items and markets join.
