- Seasonal consumer goods
Seasonal consumer goods
A product with a recurring seasonal peak needs history that represents the underlying pattern. The app keeps historical sales, dated adjustments, seasonality profiles, model runs and period forecasts in connected records. Demand Planner can compare the seasonal index with actual quantity before choosing the baseline for a cycle. Marketing activity is then considered as a separate commercial assumption.
How SCM with Demand Forecasting is set up for you
History quality
Record why a one-time order or earlier promotion was adjusted while preserving the source amount.
Seasonal shape
Review the profile method, strength and ordered index points for the planning entity.
Forecast comparison
Compare baseline, adjusted, consensus and final amounts for the same period.
Review trail
Keep exceptions and meeting decisions tied to the cycle that used the forecast.
Pick one item in a single region and channel with a full seasonal history. Load the dated quantities and mark any period that contains an unusual one-time order. Have Demand Planner record an adjustment with the original and revised quantity, reason and method. Review a seasonal profile and the latest model run's history depth, WAPE and bias. Open the coming peak periods and compare the baseline with the observed pattern.
Next, prepare a promotion that overlaps one of those periods. Marketing Manager states the expected uplift and confidence; Demand Planning Manager reviews the resulting commercial position. At consensus, Sales Rep adds any known customer commitment. The final version should make it possible to explain how much of the peak came from recurring seasonality and how much from a new assumption. Review actual quantity after the season and use an exception where the miss calls for investigation.
