Who it's for

Expiry-sensitive stock

Cold rooms and other expiry-sensitive storage areas need a clear lot identity for each stock decision. The item defines the base unit and whether lot tracking applies. The lot carries its expiry date, release state and owner reference. Requests and reservations identify the item and location, with a lot link on the reservation when relevant.

How SCM with Lot Tracking is set up for you

Expiry context

Lot expiry dates can be reviewed alongside Released, Quarantined and Blocked release states.

Location context

Storage locations carry an eligibility note that helps the team discuss where stock belongs.

Claims on stock

An Active reservation records quantity, location and expiry against its parent request.

Evidence trail

A decision, operation receipt and any attachment stay linked to the request under review.

Set up one item with multiple lots at a cold room location. Give one lot a near expiry date and another a different release state. App Administrator confirms the item and location records. Inventory Coordinator prepares a request for a specific quantity and required date. Inventory Reviewer checks the lot context and the source revision before deciding. After the action, compare any reservation and movement with the intended lot and location.

Run a second case in which a lot is marked Blocked after a claim has been discussed. Ask the team to inspect the current release state and active reservation rather than rely on a prior note. If a receipt is Failed or needs review, reconcile it with the request before reporting available stock. The exercise establishes a shared way to talk about the lot in use.
