- Multi-location stock teams
Multi-location stock teams
A team working across warehouses and return docks needs more than a total stock number. Each stock request names an operating location and a storage location counterparty. Reservations hold quantity at an item and location; posted movements record the actual effect there. Operations Overview combines on-hand and available quantity with pending revisions and exceptions.
How SCM with Returns Management is set up for you
Location identity
Use stable location codes and eligibility notes for warehouses, docks and quarantine areas.
Assigned work
Inventory Coordinator owns the request and can open assigned return work by status and due date.
Local claims
An Active reservation identifies where quantity is held and when the claim expires.
Corrections
A reversal references the original movement when an effect was posted to the wrong location.
A team working across warehouses and return docks needs more than a total stock number. Each stock request names an operating location and a storage location counterparty. Reservations hold quantity at an item and location; posted movements record the actual effect there. Operations Overview combines on-hand and available quantity with pending revisions and exceptions.
Choose two locations inside one organization and a small set of active items. Give each item a base unit and confirm whether it needs lot tracking. Enter a request at one receiving location, reserve eligible quantity and post the movement there. Check that the other location's quantity is not changed by the first location's claim.
Next, create a wrong-location example. Keep the original posted movement, record the linked reversal and make the corrected effect through the reviewed work path. Inventory Reviewer reconciles the operation receipts and decision revisions. Auditor should be able to explain the final quantity at each location from the movement history rather than an edited balance.
Before widening the rollout, agree who maintains the location list, who may submit requests and who independently decides them. Include a lot whose release state is Quarantined so operators practice checking eligibility, not just quantity. If transport tracking is needed between sites, connect that process explicitly and keep its acknowledgment separate from the posted stock event.
