How a SCM with Supplier Portal rollout works
Set up authority, supplier records and a controlled buying rehearsal.
Choose the pilot
Select an organization, department, supplier, item or service, and receiving location.
Prepare master data
Review user identities, cost centers, categories, supplier status and qualification evidence.
Set authority
Review effective approval rules, named approvers, limits and agreement terms with Procurement Manager and Controller.
Rehearse buying
Follow a request through independent review, sourcing, order approval, order acknowledgement and receipt.
Reconcile handoffs
Compare the posted receipt, signed commitment, matching exception and configured delivery acknowledgements.
What the customer provides
Provide supplier identities and contacts, item categories, current agreements, open orders, approval owners, organizational scope and receiving places. Provide a sample of late, partial and rejected deliveries for the rehearsal. Controller should confirm cutover commitment and accepted-quantity totals before live buying starts.
Changing it afterwards
A new approval matrix version or contract rate should have a reviewed effective date. Keep prior order and response revisions available for audit. Pilot a changed rule on a bounded purchase before extending it to all departments. Review the roles and connected systems with the owners.
