Click Get started to begin setting up Server Monitoring with Proto. Name the service your team will pilot, identify its owner and list the assets that support it. Choose the people who will monitor checks, respond to incidents and review changes.

Prepare the first operating cycle

Bring a recent availability check and server sample for the same service and asset. Agree how probe locations are named and when a failed check warrants an incident. Set an on-call shift and an incident assignee. Rehearse a failed observation, acknowledgment, investigation update, outage record and later successful check. Then draft a low-risk change so the reviewer and release operator can practice their handoff.

Review before release

Ask the service owner to trace one case from observation through resolution. Check that the affected site, assignee, response times, impact and restoration time are clear. Confirm that a rejected change cannot move into implementation and that the approved case retains its decision and deployment result. Add further services after this first cycle is readable to the team.
