Assign operators and respond to station events

Place an authorized operator at the intended station and handle interruptions with a clear event and resolution.

Step by step

  1. Confirm the person and job Production Operator

Production Operator selects the personnel identity associated with their account and the intended work order. Production Planner checks that the station choice makes sense for the released job before the assignment is relied on by the next shift.

    • Correct actor and production context are selected
    • Updates People, Users, Work orders, Resources
  2. Submit the station interval Production Operator

Production Operator enters the start and end of the assignment. The submission validates references, actor, interval and station scheduling before committing it. Resolve a conflicting interval or wrong operator identity before proceeding.

    • Valid assignment is committed
    • Updates Operator assignments
  3. Raise an interruption Production Operator

If the station needs attention, Production Operator opens an Andon event with the affected resource and a Material, Equipment, Quality or Safety reason. Use the actual opening time so the floor can distinguish a current problem from a historical event.

    • Station event captures reason and opening time
    • Updates Andon events, Resources
  4. Apply the station response Production Planner

Production Planner reviews affected work while the validated event applies the agreed station state. Check whether the next job can remain on that station or whether the plan needs to change. Submission itself is an operational action rather than an additional approval decision.

    • Station state and affected work are reviewed
    • Updates Andon events, Resources, Work orders
  5. Resolve and check readiness Production Operator

Production Operator records the resolution and its time. The event validates those details before applying the station response. Production Planner checks readiness before releasing further work that depends on the station.

    • Valid resolution supports the station response
    • Updates Andon events, Resources

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • The selected person has a similar name but a different user account. Check identity before submitting an assignment.
  • A replacement assignment conflicts with existing station work. Review the surrounding intervals before committing the change.
  • The event has a completion time but no useful explanation. Record what made the station ready so the next shift can understand the resolution.
