The tables behind Smart Building Management
Smart Building Management ships with 11 tables, grouped here by the feature that uses them. Every record your team works with lives in one of them, and you can add fields and tables in Proto.

How the model is organised
Sites and Meters
Sites holds site name, Location, Timezone and Status. Meters references Site and retains meter number, energy type, Unit and reading mode.
Energy Readings
Meter readings references Meter with read at, Value and quality flag. Energy intervals also references Meter and carries starts at, ends at, energy quantity, Unit and Status.
Energy Review and Tariffs
Energy intervals records Received, Validated or Rejected. Tariffs references Site with effective from, effective to, rate per unit and Unit.
Operational Events
Operational events references Site and retains event type, Description, started at, ended at and Status.
Maintenance Work
Maintenance tasks references Site and assigned to, with Task, due date, completed at and Status. Assigned to points to People; People.User maps the person to Users.
Building Sensors
Building sensors references operational events through operational record. Its Building and Zone are descriptive text, with sensor ID, Metric and Unit. Sensor observations references building sensors through Sensor and retains observed at, Value and quality flag.

Keys and references
Use stable record identities for references. Meter number and sensor ID help people identify sources, while Meter and Sensor determine which records receive the reading or observation. A sensor’s site context resolves through operational record to operational events.Site.
Maintenance tasks has Site and assigned to references. Review site work alongside operating events using the actual process evidence; preserve the model’s declared relationships. People.User establishes the account mapping used for personal work. Retain the published Users.User self-reference during identity setup.
Meter readings.quality flag includes Estimated, while sensor observations.quality flag uses Valid, Missing and Invalid. Keep those vocabularies distinct. Energy interval Status records the review decision separately from the original reading quality.
Migration order
- Resolve Users and People identities and the agreed active-responder convention.
- Load Sites with recognized names, locations and timezone values.
- Load Meters and Tariffs against the correct sites, preserving units and effective periods.
- Load meter readings, then process or import energy intervals under the reviewed reset and overlap rules.
- Load operational events and maintenance tasks with valid site and responder references, retaining their distinct dates and states.
- Load building sensors against the intended operational record, then sensor observations against the correct Sensor. Verify saved identities and quality before using imported observations in the operating review.
