Forecast to replenishment

Agree and lock the forecast, run MRP against it and review the purchase, transfer and production suggestions it produces.

Step by step

  1. Build the forecast Demand Planner

Demand Planner records the statistical, sales override and consensus figures per product, warehouse and bucket under a draft version.

    • Figures recorded per bucket
    • Updates Demand forecasts, Forecast buckets
  2. Review and lock Demand Planner

The version moves to In Review, is approved by the consensus meeting and is Locked before planning runs against it.

    • Draft → in review → Approved → Locked
    • Updates Forecast versions
  3. Run MRP Demand Planner

The planner runs MRP over the agreed horizon against the locked version. The run records items planned and suggestions made.

    • Run Completed with suggestions
    • Updates MRP runs
  4. Review suggestions Demand Planner

Each suggestion shows the net requirement, action, need-by date and suggested supplier. The planner reviews it and actions it, ignores it, or lets it expire.

    • New → Reviewed → Actioned, Ignored or Expired
    • Updates Replenishment plans
  5. Hand off Buyer

Purchase order suggestions go to the buyer, transfers to the Inventory Manager and production orders to the plant.

    • Orders created from suggestions
    • Updates Purchase orders, Transfers, Production orders

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • MRP runs against a draft version that changes the next day.
  • Suggestions are left New and expire without review.
  • Safety stock or lead times are out of date, so suggestions arrive too late.
