Dock appointment review

Submit the reservation and obtain an independent decision on its dock capacity.

Step by step

  1. Draft the reservation Dispatcher

Dispatcher selects the parent load and organization, then enters the plant, dock and appointment time. Record planned pallets, the dock capacity used for review and a capacity note that explains the plant's operating basis.

    • Draft reservation linked to the intended load
    • Updates Plant appointments, Loads, Organizations
  2. Submit the request Dispatcher

Dispatcher marks the appointment Submitted. The submission action records an operation receipt for the handoff. Recording that receipt does not alter the appointment or serve as its capacity decision.

    • Draft to Submitted; submission receipt recorded
    • Updates Plant appointments, Operation receipts
  3. Review capacity Dock Reviewer

Dock Reviewer independently checks the submitted revision against the published dock capacity. Approve a suitable reservation or reject an unsuitable one with a useful reason. Record the decision time, review decision and linked operational outcome. Approval leaves the parent load unchanged.

    • Submitted to Approved or Rejected with decision time
    • Updates Plant appointments, Review decisions, Operation receipts
ApprovalA person approves before the work moves on.
  4. Resolve a rejected request Dispatcher

Dispatcher uses the review reason to agree a correction with the plant. Preserve the earlier decision and identify the revised request before another review. The Dock Reviewer needs the actual revised pallet requirement and capacity basis.

    • Corrected request retains prior decision context
    • Updates Plant appointments, Review decisions
  5. Record dock completion Dispatcher

Dispatcher marks an Approved appointment Completed after the dock activity occurs. Check the associated stop and delivery evidence separately so completing the reservation does not conceal a transport exception.

    • Approved to Completed after actual dock work
    • Updates Plant appointments, Load stops, Proof of delivery

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • Planned pallets exceed the capacity offered by the plant. Record the rejection and arrange a suitable reservation before proceeding.
  • A load change alters the pallet requirement or appointment time. Dispatcher revises the affected reservation and submits it for review; Dock Reviewer checks the current appointment revision before deciding.
  • A submission receipt is mistaken for approval. The reviewer decision and appointment state establish the reservation outcome.
