How a Treasury Bills & Bonds rollout works

Start with one entity, one custodian and one bank the team can reconcile daily.

  1. Agree the operating boundary

The scope is treasury operations for bills and bonds: instructions, approval, submission, settlement evidence, coupon and maturity cash flows, balances and reconciliation. Banks, custodians, market data and the ledger remain connected systems. Investment decisions and pricing stay with treasury; Proto prepares configuration for review.

  2. Map the source data

Bring entities, approved counterparties, accounts with external IDs, open instructions and current holdings with coupon and maturity schedules.

  3. Configure a bounded pilot

Pilot one entity with one custodian and one bank. Run new purchases through approval, submission and settlement and reconcile daily.

  4. Rehearse the exceptions

Return an instruction and approve the revised version. Submit unbalanced account lines. Simulate a submission timeout. Load evidence with a different value date. Reject a short coupon.

  5. Reconcile and release

Compare open instructions, scheduled cash flows and balances with the source. Obtain the treasurer's acceptance and agree the rollback window before adding entities.

What the customer provides

  • Legal entities, approved counterparties and eligibility notes.
  • Custody and settlement accounts with external IDs and currency.
  • Current holdings with security codes, coupon and maturity schedules.
  • Approval limits and the investment mandate.
  • Opening balances for each account.

Changing it afterwards

Use Proto to prepare changes on a branch. Review changed fields, permissions and reports with the treasurer and approvers. Replay the pilot’s exception cases before release. Decisions already recorded keep the version they were made on.
