Statement to reconciled account

Import balance snapshots and provider entries, match them exactly to confirmed instructions and explain every difference.

Step by step

  1. Import snapshots and entries Reconciliation Analyst

Reconciliation Analyst imports the account's balance snapshot with its as-of date, ledger and available balances, and the provider entries with their event identifiers, dates and amounts.

    • Snapshot and entries loaded per account
    • Updates Account snapshots, Reconciliation items
  2. Match exactly Reconciliation Analyst

Each entry is matched to a confirmed instruction on provider identity, amount and date. Matched entries record the instruction they settle.

    • Unmatched → Matched with matched instruction
    • Updates Reconciliation items, Bank instructions
  3. Raise exceptions Reconciliation Analyst

Entries that do not match stay Unmatched or become Exceptions. A different amount or date is never forced to match.

    • Unmatched → Exception
    • Updates Reconciliation items
  4. Reconcile the balance Reconciliation Analyst

For each account, opening ledger plus confirmed movements is compared with the closing snapshot.

    • Closing balance explained
    • Updates Account snapshots, Bank instructions
  5. Reconcile receipts Reconciliation Analyst

Pending and failed operation receipts are checked against the effects they name and marked Completed or needs review.

    • Pending → Completed, or needs review
    • Updates Operation receipts

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • An entry is matched to an instruction with a slightly different amount.
  • Bank fees and interest sit unexplained in the balance.
  • The same statement is imported twice.
