Inspection to repair

Step by step

1. Record the check Inspector

   Inspector identifies the vehicle and driver, records Pre-trip or Post-trip, and enters the inspection time and odometer. Capture the checklist observations and choose Pass, Pass with defects or Fail according to the condition actually observed.

2. Open the finding Inspector

   Inspector creates an Open defect with a description and severity, linking it to the vehicle and originating inspection.

   • Record the finding against its source inspection
   • Updates Vehicle defects, Inspections, Vehicles

3. Assign repair responsibility Maintenance Coordinator

   Maintenance Coordinator checks the vehicle and inspection references, assigns the responsible team member and keeps the finding Open until repair work begins.

   • Check the source and assign the repair owner
   • Updates Vehicle defects, Inspections, Team members

4. Follow the repair Maintenance Coordinator

   Maintenance Coordinator moves the finding to In Repair and then Repaired when the work supports completion. Deferred keeps an unresolved finding visible. Retain supporting documents with a clear reference to the affected record.

5. Review readiness Dispatcher

   Dispatcher checks the latest pre-trip result and remaining Critical findings before considering the unit for another assignment. Consult Maintenance Coordinator and Inspector about unresolved condition questions. A previous Pass result must not conceal a later failure.
