Who it's for

Software vendors

Software vendors often return a questionnaire with control descriptions and supporting files. The assessment team needs the answer tied to the right request and vendor version, especially when a vendor returns a revised response. The questionnaire owner manages the request and due date; the Reviewer examines individual control answers and records a decision on the questionnaire.

How Vendor IT Security Assessment is set up for you

Named request

Use the vendor name, questionnaire version and due date to keep each review cycle distinct.

Control detail

Keep the control code, written answer, attachment and risk rating on the linked response.

Decision queue

Let the Reviewer work from questionnaires in review and inspect elevated risk answers before recording the outcome.

Audit finding

If a formal audit produces an observation, record the finding under that audit with severity and owner.

Choose one software provider and a bounded control set. The Assessment Owner prepares the questionnaire, then the Inspector enters responses against it. Review the evidence files for relevance to the period and scope named in the request. An answer about access review, for example, should be assessed with the attached artifact rather than its rating alone. The Reviewer then decides whether this version of the questionnaire is approved or rejected.

Rehearse a second version of the same questionnaire. Confirm that the old decision remains tied to the earlier version and that new answers belong to the new request. If the assessment includes an inspection, use the subject reference to name the software service being checked. A failed check can then move into nonconformance and correction. This keeps the first rollout anchored in the app's actual records and the team's own evidence standard.
